MID-AMERICA COUNCIL
OF PUBLIC PURCHASING
EXECUTIVE BOARD POSITIONS
The following are Officer positions and their responsibilities:
PRESIDENT
The duties and responsibilities of the President are to serve
as a member of the Executive Board; to conduct meetings of the
Executive Board and establish an agenda therefore; to preside
at Council meetings; to appoint a nominating committee; and to
overview the activities in a general sense of all permanent and
ad hoc Council committees.
VICE PRESIDENT
The duties and responsibilities of the Vice President are to
serve as a member of the Executive Board; to act for the Council
President in the President's absence; to assist the President
in performing any of the assigned responsibilities of the President;
and to specifically overview the plans and programs of the meeting
program and meeting facilities committees.
TREASURER
The duties and responsibilities of the Treasurer are to serve
as a member of the Executive Board; to prepare an annual budget
for submission to the Executive Board; to prepare and submit to
the Executive Board a balance sheet and operating statement covering
the prior 12 months no later than the June meeting of the Executive
Board; to quarterly provide to the Executive Board interim financial
statements and forecasts as appropriate; to review and recommend
to the Board all proposed expenditures as they impact or affect
the budget; to maintain an active membership roster and mail dues
notices in sufficient time for uninterrupted membership; and to
overview the activities of the membership committee as it relates
to maintenance of membership or achievement of membership goals.
SECRETARY
The duties and responsibilities of the Secretary are to serve
as a member of the Executive Board, to maintain minutes of all
Executive Board activities, and to develop and distribute monthly
meeting announcements, training notices, and any other forms of
communication with the membership.
PAST PRESIDENT
The past President's responsibilities are to serve as a member
of the Executive Board, to be the primary liaison between the
Council and other organizations, and to advise and assist the
Council President as appropriate.
The following are Director positions and their responsibilities:
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Responsibilities: Preparing educational and training seminars
coordinated with NIGP, Rockhurst College and other professional
organizations and colleges; promoting professionalism; encouraging
members to obtain professional certification (CPPO, CPPB, CPM).
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
Responsibilities: Planning and executing a year-round program
to constantly acquire new members; conduct a strong program of
member education and involvement and retention; selecting nominees
for the Council's Buyer of the Year award; maintaining a roster
of all active members in all membership classifications.
PUBLICATIONS COMMITTEE
Responsibilities: Editing and publishing the Council's newsletter;
advertising the Council's program activities and events in the
media; maintaining a history of the Council's activities; maintaining
and updating brochures and handbooks explaining the Council's
objectives, programs and activities.
PROGRAMS/SEMINAR COORDINATOR
Responsibilities: Preparing a schedule of events and meeting
of the Council; arranging of meeting facilities and accommodations;
arranging the visits of guest speakers to the Council; scheduling
the times and locations of educational and training programs in
cooperation with the Professional Development Committee; promoting
Council meeting attendance.
PROCUREMENT OPERATIONS COMMITTEE
Responsibilities: Promoting cooperative purchasing within the
profession; maintaining and circulating current contract lists
to all members on a regular basis and outside agencies upon request;
keeping a copy of each cooperative and piggyback bid listed for
circulation upon request; compiling information for possible new
cooperative bids for the future for both commodities and services.
